Best Place To Go For Coffee Cocktails

Image
For the final blog post, I am going to keep it short and sweet! This is a quick post about the place to get coffee cocktails! Combining the two things this blog is about! The most obvious cocktail you can get that mixes coffee and alcohol is expresso martini. This is one of my personal favourite drinks to get while at any cocktail bar. As well, other coffee favoured drinks I have tried is a hot flat white Russian! I find for these types of drinks it is best to ask the bar staff what they recommend as this is when you are most likely to get the best drink or try something new that you would not have typically chosen from the menu.  Hillhead Bookclub and Bar Soba are two of the best places I have found for different coffee flavoured drinks, both bars are good places to go for late night post-uni drinks and are reasonably priced. Other places that I have heard good things about from people that have been reading this blog is to try out Strata in Merchant City. This bar reopened i...

Cocktail Places To Go On A Saturday Night

Image
Following on from a previous post about the top 5 places for cheap cocktails in Glasgow which featured places such as The Spiritualist, St Jude’s, Hard Rock Cafe etc. This will be a quick post on some places to go on a Saturday night that are slightly more expensive than the ones previously mentioned.  First up is Blythswood Square Hotel: Overlooking the private square garden and townhouses, this is a good place to go for a luxurious Instagram worthy experience. With average cocktail prices ranging from £8-£12 with plenty of Gin choices and the usual classic choices, my personal favourites being the Mai Tai and the French Martini. Definitely somewhere to go for a nice place for quiet Saturday evening drinks.  Next is the Corinthian. An easy to get to location just around the corner from George Square with prices ranging from £7-13 there is plenty of choice on the menu. Live music and a rooftop terrace this is a good all-round location however it is extremely busy...

Best Place for Coffee on Campus

Image
Following on from the last blog post which gave advice on going elsewhere on campus, it should be said that there are places on campus that are worthwhile checking out if you need a quick lunch or coffee break.  First on the list is: Sir William Duncan Building: Located on Rottenrow behind the business school building, this building has a mix of seating available as well as PC’s available to use. Plenty of hot food choices available and Starbucks coffee -  this building is the best place to go if you have an hour break and have some last-minute tutorial prep but want to grab a quick coffee too. Easy to get to and the (almost) full Starbucks menu on offer, a good all-round place to visit. Next up is on campus at the bottom of the hill and a new addition to the line of shops on George street, Tim Hortons! Obviously, there are more than one of these in Glasgow now but this one is predominately filled up with student’s due to the location. Good food...

Best Coffee Shops in Glasgow to Study

Image
I think I speak for most students when I say the library is the worst building on campus. Its loud, busy and you can never get a seat at the booths with the charger space. Not to mention the criminally expensive and mediocre food and drink choices downstairs (I am looking at you Nourish cafe). Therefore it is no surprise that when I have coursework to complete I will avoid Andersonian library as much as I can choosing to retreat to the business building or Sir William Duncan building. However sometimes these buildings are equally as busy as the library so instead, the next best option is to go to one of the many coffee shops Glasgow has to offer and study there. There is a much better selection of food and hot drinks and at least when you pay £8 for a coffee and a sandwich it is at least worth your while. Going off campus to study is sometimes the best option and here are the best places to go to avoid the constant battle to find a seat with a charging spot in the librar...

5 Places for Cheap Cocktails in Glasgow

Image
I have compiled a list of the top 5 places to go for mid-week drinks in the city centre, doing the hard work and research so you don't have to. Team player I know.  Slug and Lettuce - St Vincent Street I truly believe there is not a student alive who hasn't been to Slug and Lettuce for drinks at some point in their academic career. A chain bar which opens late during the week (and opens early for those middle of the day uni breaks). Describing themselves as a cool & contemporary style bar with live music, space to charge your phone and more importantly, a decent wifi connection. T here is not much else you could want out of a cocktail bar, however,   it gets better. 50% off cocktails, all day every day.  There is not much else I need to say, it ticks all the boxes for a place to visit if you have yet to try. The only issue with the 50% off offer is it applies if it is the same drink, so if you have an odd number of friends with you then its easier t...
